Interests: The study of the neural, hormonal, and developmental bases of human social behavior, as well as social cognition and emotions such as empathy, fairness, and compassion, and their trainability. Founder and director of the ReSource Project, a large-scale longitudinal study of mental training examining how mental training affects brain, mental health, stress, well-being, and social behavior. Director of the CovSocial project, a study of mental health, social stress, social cohesion, and resilience in the Berlin population during the CovSars-2 pandemic. Research in neuro-economics as well as collaboration with macroeconomist Prof. Dennis J. Snower on Caring Economics to explore how insights from biology and psychology can inform new economic models related to collaboration and decision making.
