Paneldiscussion at Futurium with Richard Sennett
Dense living conditions and diversity can improve the quality of life, but they also increase social stress and inequality within the city. How can we ensure that they instead become resources that strengthen urban society?
Under the title “Just Right or Too Much of Everything, Richard Sennett?”, the project “Your Emotional City” discusses with him the opportunities and challenges of density and diversity in the city. Richard Sennett is a Professor of Sociology and History at the London School of Economics and at New York University. He is globally renowned for his work on urbanism, labor, and social change. His most important publications include “The Fall of Public Man”, “The Corrosion of Character”, and “Building and Dwelling: Ethics for the City”. Sennett has received numerous awards and has shaped debates on urban planning and work culture. He is also a member of the Advisory Board for the research project “Your Emotional City”.
